Podium European Stuntriding Championships 2007
|
Together with 36 more Stunt Riders from all over Europe this contest got underway on brand new tarmac at Amsterdam harbor. Already at the free practice it came obvious that almost all riders have improved their riding a lot over the last year. Some young French riders were the biggest surprise to me, as they’ve brought in a lot of new and fresh style. One of them, Seb 5, even took the lead after the first round, also due to his long stoppies based on good acceleration.
The first round rules appear a bit strange to me, because in addition to a 3 minutes freestyle program, a compulsory part has to be shown. this consists of a stoppie, to be executed as long as possible by only having limited acceleration-space, a slow-as-possible straight wheelie over 50 meters (150 ft) and a 10 seconds long donut around a center-marking.
In the semi finals, where 4 minutes of pure freestyle has been required to be shown, I could take the lead, even though I have lost grip (and slightly slipped off) twice. The rest of my run has been pretty solid and I could also show a brand new trick of mine for the first time: Switchback Donuts.
The bestranked 12 riders advanced to the finals,in which another 6 minutes of pure freestyle were to be performed. My third and final run has been my absolutely best ride of the day: Very energetic, dynamic and fast, without any mistakes, which brought me on top of the list. AC Farias, who seems to have improved a lot in matters of speed and dynamics came second, while Narcis Roca completed the podium on third.
