The promoters of the Indoor Streetbike Freestyle World Championships, again held as a part of the Swiss Moto exhibition in Zurich, once again have not been making any prisoners: Over 70 tons of asphalt, equaling a value of 30.000 Euros, has been produced to cover the action area of 15 by 50 meters for this event only. it’ll now have to be scraped off and recycled.
A new record-figure of 63.000 visitors have been appearing the show over the weekend and the new contest format – having the best going last – has been providing loads of excitement, packed grand-stands and great atmosphere building up until the very final run.
The championship itself seemed to have been the only set parameter, though. Title-defender Chris Pfeiffer seems to have a long term claim on the title: With rock-solid performances in all four runs, Pfeiffer has been ruling the competition from first run on, increasing his lead constantly.
“Even though I’ve been suffering from an almost overcome flue, making me feel weak on Saturday, I could set a solid base on day one. After more than 10 hours of sleep I’ve been feeling fresh and fit on Sunday, allowing me to go hard. I was showing Heavy Metal, not Jazz”, stated Pfeiffer, mostly known for his technical skills and fluid riding style. The six judges though did everything they could in order to keep the other contestants in reach to Pfeiffer. Nowhere else but in the final results’ points attribution, the difference between him and the followers has been closer. “I think, they (the judges) just started to allocate high scores too early in the contest and when the big guys came up, they’ve had no more space up to maximum points left, in order to honor those even greater performances accordingly”, said Pfeiffer, who’s fast trick-combinations once again has made the difference to the others. “Pfeiffer – who else?”
